Live animals, across the border. Soon.

We're building cross-border live-animal shipping the same way we built domestic: permits, ports and carrier approvals checked before you see a price, and a person on operations when something needs attention.

What's coming

Everything the border asks for, before you pack.

Cross-border shipping fails on paperwork far more often than on transit. These are the pieces we're building first.

Permit checks before price

Species, lane and purpose are screened against the permits each side of the border may require, including CITES-listed species. Missing paperwork stops the quote, not the shipment at the border.

One document packet

Commercial invoice, wildlife declarations, permits and health paperwork assembled in one place, attached to the shipment and ready for the broker. Nothing printed from memory.

Port-of-entry routing

Some live wildlife can only clear through designated ports, with inspection hours. Routing and cut-offs will account for where, and when, your animals can actually clear.

Customs broker hand-off

Bring your own broker or use one we connect you with. They receive the packet and status updates; you see clearance events alongside carrier scans.

Border-aware weather and holds

The weather planner will factor in clearance time and inspection holds, so a package isn't sitting on a cold dock while paperwork moves.

Cross-border tracking and claims

Carrier scans, broker updates and the recipient's Arrival Check-In on one timeline, with claims that know which side of the border something went wrong.
Rollout

One lane at a time.

Lanes open as carrier approvals, permit handling and broker partners are in place. No dates until we're sure.
  1. Phase 1In design

    Canada → United States

Exports from Canadian shippers to US recipients, starting with species that don't need CITES permits.

  2. Phase 2Planned

    United States → Canada

Imports to Canadian recipients, with import-permit checks and broker hand-off on arrival.

  3. Phase 3Exploring

    Beyond North America

Selected international lanes where carrier approvals, permits and transit times keep animals safe.

FAQ

Import & export questions.

Q.01Can I ship across the border today?
A.

Not through Monarch yet. Domestic shipments within Canada are fully supported today. Cross-border shipments can't be booked until import & export launches on your lane.

Q.02Will Monarch file permits for me?
A.

You'll still hold your own permits and licences. Monarch will check that the ones a shipment needs are on file, collect them into the document packet and share them with your broker. We won't apply for permits on your behalf.

Q.03Which species will be supported first?
A.

We'll start with species that the carriers already approve domestically and that don't need CITES permits, then widen as permit handling is proven. Joining the waitlist with your lanes helps us decide where to start.

Q.04What will it cost?
A.

Pricing isn't final. Expect the carrier's cross-border rate, any broker and inspection fees passed through at cost, and a platform fee, all shown in the price breakdown before you pay.

Q.05What does joining the waitlist do?
A.

We'll email you when your lane opens and may ask a few questions about your species and volumes. If you opt in, we'll also send early-access and launch updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
